The Results

Results and the impact of the Amazing Minds programme are solid, robust, reliable and collated over a period of time.

Jo measured change using the industry standard tool known as the Strength and Difficulty Questionnaire (SDQ) to measure the impact of the new mindset programme. SDQ’s ask random style multiple choice questions and were used at the beginning and at the end of the AM programme. The results are completely objective and classed as robust and quantifiable data.

The results below were compiled from students who were working towards their GCSE exams, Year 10 and 11 students.  The programme was presented as a voluntary/free educational opportunity that was neither compulsory or prescriptive. The take up was good, the young people were keen to access additional support with the hope of improving their mindsets and finding better ways of coping with the stress and strain of intense periods of study, revision, and sitting exams.

The outcomes for the AM programme have proved to be outstanding, showing improvements in young people’s mental emotional wellbeing, confidence, resilience, attitudes to self and overall happiness levels. These outcomes have all positively impacted on the young people’s capacity to learn more effectively and experience happier, healthier teenage years.

Here are some of the highlights of the results from our 2023 AM Coaches:

  • 95% of the cohort made numerical positive progress within all the categories below
  • 36% of the cohort started in the strength category in session one and by session six the cohort had positively shifted to an increase of 95% in the strength category
  • 32% of the cohort started in the borderline category in session one and by session six the cohort had positively reduced this to 0% in the level two category
  • 32% of the cohort started in the difficulties category in session one and by session six the cohort had positively reduced this to 5% in the difficulties category

SDQ Three Categories:

  • Difficulty category
  • Borderline category
  • Strength category

All students completed an online questionnaire at the end of the AM programme and the findings were excellent. Here are some of the highlights of these results from our 2023 AM Coaches.

“I would definitely recommend this programme, especially to Year 11s. I found it very helpful this year, as I need to focus before doing my GCSEs and now, I know how to deal with stress."

Darcy G – Year 11
